Student Success Statement #38

"If you want to achieve excellence, you can get there today. As of this second, quit doing less-than excellent work."
- Thomas J. Watson

Reflection: I live by this type of mentality. There is never a time in which I do not attempt anything with all my abilities. I always put 100% into whatever activity I do. I always want to be on top of the list. I do not want to live below someone. Excellence seperates the greats from the common people, and I know I am not just a common person

Medical Assistant

Medical Assistant
Duties and Responsibilities:
Medical Assistant help physicians and nurses with patient care. They help with the scheduling of appointments; taking blood pressure, respirations, temperature; and performing other routine patient pre-examining procedures. Sometimes they help with office and clerical tasks.

Average Salary: $17,000 - $18,000

Educational Requirements:

Students should complete HS courses in biology, physical science, office management, communications, and human relations, although some Medical Assistant training programs may allow only a GED certificate. The training programs can be provided by Junior colleges and technical training schools

I do not believe I would like to be a medical assistant because I do not enjoy that type of work in the medical field and I do not believe that it best suites my abilities

Student Success Statement #37

"Paint a masterpiece daily. Always autograph your work with excellence."
- Greg Hickman

Reflection: Whenever I practice my instrument, I never settle for being okay. I constantly push myself to be better and better. And not only better than others in my school or grade level. I try to be better than people that are professionals or many that are in college. I do this because it increases the amount of time I spend practicing and the way I practice. Now I am the main trumpet player in the school's music program but I strive to be better than my teacher and better than everyone. I am on my way of excellence.

Licensed Practical Nurse

Licensed Practical Nurse
Duties and Responsibilities:
LPNs work under the control and direction of registered nurses and physicians. They take care of injured, handicapped, and sick patients. They must take temperatures, blood pressures, and pulses. They also assist in giving injections, change dressings, and assist with bathing the patients. They assist with care of almost everyone who cannot do it themselves.

Average Salary: $16,000 - $23,000

Educational Requirements:
Although a high school diploma or GED certificate is not always required, it is encouraged.  LPNs do not have the extensive professional education that is required for a registered nurse.  State approved training programs are offered by the hospitals, vocational schools, junior colleges and private schools.

I do not wish to be an LPN because I do not believe I would enjoy doing a lot of things for people all the time.

Student Success Statement #36

"It's not the will to win, but the will to PREPARE to win that makes the difference."
- Paul Bear Bryant

Reflection: One needs the will to prepare in order to actually have the win. It is because if someone does not have the will to prepare to win then one would not even think about winning. There would be no enthusiasm to practice harder and harder each day. It is not healthy for an athlete or competitive musician to never having the will to prepare. If someone prepares, they will succeed.

Paul "Bear" Bryant

Paul "Bear" Bryant was an American College Football coach who was also named the coach with the most wins in collegiate football with 323 wins. He was accepted to play for Alabama on a scholarship in 1931. He left his high school before receiving his diploma so he had to go to Tuscaloosa High School during his fall semester while playing football for Alabama. He played End alongside with NFL Hall Of Famer Don Hutson and also was a part of the 1934 National Association Team. He won 6 National Championships while he was Head Coach of the team
