"There is no giant step that does it. It's a lot of little steps."
- ANON

Reflection: This is true and I have heard many different versions of this like "Little successes make big successes". There is never a person that plays one concert and then his next concert is at a sold out Staples Center. You have to work your way up a ladder from garage concert to playing at bars to then playing at Warped Tour possibly then playing at the Staples center or Coachella Music Festival. You need to plan for smaller goals because in achieving those goals, one gets the confidence for bigger and better things.

Recreation Therapist

Recreation Therapist

Recreational therapists plan, direct, and coordinate recreation-based treatment programs for people with disabilities, injuries, or illnesses. They usually plan things such as arts and crafts, drama, music, dance, sports, and games to help improve a person’s well-being.

Education Requirements:
At least a bachelor’s degree is required for an entry level position.

I could do it for as a part time job in order to help people because I am very active and enjoy doing activities with people.

"Right is right, even if everyone is against it; and wrong is wrong, even if everyone is for it."
- William Penn

Reflection: I am pretty skeptical about this statement because there is no way to say that what you are doing is right if everyone is saying its wrong. There is no moral handbook for the world. If that were to exist people could easily discredit it because there is no force that can stop them from doing so. I understand that William Penn wants the world to do the right things even if it is seen in the wrong light, but I wouldn't be able to distinguish the two because there is everyone against you. They have the right in their hands.

Thoracic Surgeon

Thoracic Surgeon
Duties and Responsibilities:
Specializing in surgical procedures related to the chest, thoracic surgeons are some of the remarkably few people who can say they have held someone's heart in their hands -- literally. These medical professionals undergo many years of education and rigorous training to prepare them for a career in the operating room -- often working long, irregular hours on their feet. A thoracic surgeon's job is far from easy, but the career may appeal to those who enjoy helping others and love working under pressure.

Salary: $350,000

Education Requirements:
Students seeking to become a thoracic surgeon should look into taking the highest level of courses in math and biological science. In college one would look to major in a biological science and do well in these courses.

I would want to become a thoracic surgeon because surgery or helping people is extremely satisfying to me but I do not have the requirements to become one.

Cowardice asks the question, is it safe? Expediency ask the question, is it politic? Vanity asks the question, is it popular? But conscience ask the question, is it right? And there comes a time when we must take a position that is neither safe, nor politic, nor popular, but one must take it because it is right.
- Martin Luther King Jr.

Reflection: No one should question whether something is right or not. Vanity nor popularity nor emotion should make one question to do something if it is right. We as humans sometimes are afraid to do something because it isn't cool or they wouldn't look good doing it. It's not good for us to think aesthetically. Instead we should begin to think of only doing whats right.

"Right is right only when entire."
- Victor Hugo

Reflection: You can not say what you do is right if there is an expected compensation for it. Such as if someone helps out someone with money to be nice only to be repaid with interest. Or like if someone plays basketball for a small team and to be paid for his work. One thing I do consider right is how Kobe Bryant took a pay cut to continue to play for the Lakers franchise.

"That which we persist in doing becomes easier to do. Not that the nature of the thing has changed but that our power to do has increased."
- Ralph Waldo Emerson

Reflection: One of my favorite trumpet players is named Arturo Sandoval. He has won many Grammy's for his amazing talent. He has been playing since he was 13 and made the Cuban All-Nation Band when he was only 16 years old. He said that he would practice night and day because he loved practice and the instrument itself. He still gets compliments on YouTube today on his videos and he replies by thanking everyone and giving him the motivation to continue to practice even though he is known as one of the best if not the best trumpet player currently.

When You Tell One Lie by Paul Hatch

When you tell one lie, it leads to another
So you tell two lies to cover each other
Then you tell three lies and , Oh Brother,
You're in trouble up to your ears!

So you tell four lies to try to protect you
Then you tell five lies so folks won't suspect you
Then you tell six lies and you'll collect
A life filled with worries and fears

'Cause you can't remember how many lies you've told
And half of the things you say aren't true
And sometime you'll slip up, you'll trip up and then
Whatever will become of you?

So you lie and lie without even trying
And each lie you tell will keep multiplying
'Till the whole wide world will know you're lying
Then you'll be
Suspected
Detected
Rejected
Neglected
Disliked
And you should!
When you lie, you're closing the door
On everything good

"Your worth consists of what you are and not in what you have."
- Thomas Edison

Reflection: I completely have to agree with the words of Mr. Edison. People nowadays have a net worth set by Forbes magazine. But I cannot agree with the worth that a magazine sets for someone. Material items cannot determine the kind of person I am, but it is the way I act and treat others that determine my worth. Being an actor that makes substantial amounts of money would never be, in my eyes, worth more than a person that devotes themselves to the well being of others.

Psychiatric Aide – Technician

Psychiatric Aide – Technician
Duties and Responsibilities:
Psychiatric aides and technicians help care for the mentally ill, disabled, or infirm people who are confined to hospitals, mental facilities, and residential care facilities. They work under the supervision of mental health professionals or nurses. They often work in hospitals, social service centers, crisis centers, schools, and substance abuse facilities. Psychiatric technicians usually have more formal training and responsibilities than aides. Psychiatric aides and technicians often:
·        Help patients with hygiene and eating
·        Escort patients around the clinics and facilities
·        Aid or restrain patients
·        Help with orientation and housekeeping
·        Interview patients or families
·        Observe patients and report their actions to professionals
·        Teaching daily living skills
·        Dispensing medication
·        Engaging in educational and recreational activities

Average Salary: $12,000 - $24,000

Educational Requirements:
Psychiatric aides do not always require a high school diploma or formal training, but an employer would prefer that an applicant has both.
Psychiatric technicians need a high school diploma or formal training and should have taken courses in English and science. A short training course or previous job experience as a psychiatric aide is often also required.

I would not like to be a psychiatric aide or technician because it is not the type of work I would enjoy in the medical field.

"The difference between the impossible and the possible lies in DETERMINATION."
- Tommy Lasorda

Reflection: Many people give up because something may be too hard or they may even say it is impossible. People don't actually look into trying their hardest and with their all to make it possible. Men can even become women if they truly wanted to. I really try hard to play higher and higher notes on my trumpet even though it causes my head and lips to ache. Being determined brings success.

Pharmacy Technician

Pharmacy Technician

They work under the direction of a pharmacist. Their main responsibility is filling prescriptions according to doctors’ orders for patients. Technicians measure out correct amounts of medication from larger containers to prescription size containers. In addition, they add drugs to intravenous solutions. All of their prescription filling work is rechecked by a pharmacist before medications are dispensed to patients or customers. Other duties of pharmacy technicians are:
·        Checking inventories and ordering supplies.
·        Receiving and checking in supplies.
·        Waiting on customers.
·        Keeping pharmacy work areas clean.
·        Helping fill out insurance forms.

Average Salary:  $15,000 - $25,000

A high school diploma is regularly required to begin pharmacy technician training.  Two year courses leading to certificates are available at most community colleges.  Six month programs are offered sometimes at privately operated schools.

I would like to be a Pharmacy Technician because although the work may be easy the pay is still not very good to maintain someone in today’s economy.

"Go confidently in the direction of your dreams. Live the life you have imagined."
- Henry David Thoreau

Reflection: One should not say they want something in their life and not work towards achieving it. We need to work towards our goals and with 100% feet forward because if we wish to receive what we desire then we need to work for it. Right now I am trying to lose 30 lbs and I have been going to the gym much more than other people do and I eat a lot healthier than I have before.

Pharmacist

Pharmacist
Duties and Responsibilities:
Pharmacists compound, or prepare, prescriptions written by physicians, dentists, and other practitioners. They review these prescriptions to validate their accuracy and then prepare the medication.  This usually involves weighing, measuring, mixing some medications. Once the order for medication has been completed, the pharmacists then give the customers the medication.
Patients answer patients’ and customers’ questions about medication they are taking and what can be sold over the counter. Sometimes the pharmacist is responsible for taking inventory of the drugs on the shelves and ordering any in which they have a low supply on.

Average: $33,000 - $51,000

Educational Requirements:
Students should take the most challenging high school classes available in English, math, and science.
Every pharmacist must graduate from a college of Pharmacy. Most pharmacy schools require applicants to take the Pharmacy College Admissions Test (PCAT), and some require up to two years of pre-pharmacy education. Other colleges will admit students directly from high school.

I would like to be one but I would prefer to be paid more to be a pharmacist.
