Student Success Statement #41

"Set your goals high, and don't stop till you get there."
- Bo Jackson

Reflection: It is amazing when someone accomplishes something with such a great challenge. Such as Michael Phelps when he practices for the olympics. He does not like to go into the water until about a year after the olympics, but when he begins to practice again he practices everyday to get better for about 3 years. He does not quit on his training. Now he has 8 gold medals and the reason: dedication...

Student Success Statement #40

"You can't put a limit on anything. The more you dream, the farther you get."
- Michael Phelps
Reflection: I always dream about being an incredible musician. Never just the best in my school. I always think beyond. It does not serve one justice if they don't think about having abilities outside of what they can imagine. It reminds me of a book called Faust. the main character makes a deal with a demon to gain the knowledge of things one is not able to imagine of. He wishes for this because he is a scientist and wishes to know more. Limits can cause the demise of a human; not striving for more than he think he can achieve.

Restoring Faith in Humanity

Many times I think that humanity has no hope. Many people think about themselves rather than others. I tend to do the same but its the way one has to live in this cruel society. I am a part of the Humanitarians Club in my school. I am not there for my college requirements because I already have 200+ hours of community service completed. I am there to help others and the environment because I love seeing a smile on the faces of others. It pains me to see others that do not feel happy as I do because I know that we should all like in joy but in today's world no one seems to care. Especially those that have had everything given to them in their lives.

Student Success Statement #39

"Try a little harder to be a little better."
- Gordon B. Hinckley

Reflection: This is my mentality when I am working out. I always try a bit better everytime when I run my 3 miles. I always tell myself to run for a bit longer or to do longer strides to get better and better times. Doing a bit better everytime would get you a great increase in performance in the long run. I always work a bit harder everyday to see my growth in the future.

"If you want to achieve excellence, you can get there today. As of this second, quit doing less-than excellent work."
- Thomas J. Watson

Reflection: I live by this type of mentality. There is never a time in which I do not attempt anything with all my abilities. I always put 100% into whatever activity I do. "Paint a masterpiece daily. Always autograph your work with excellence."
- Greg Hickman

Reflection: Whenever I practice my instrument, I never settle for being okay. I constantly push myself to be better and better. And not only better than others in my school or grade level. I try to be better than people that are professionals or many that are in college. I do this because it increases the amount of time I spend practicing and the way I practice. Student Success Statement #36

"It's not the will to win, but the will to PREPARE to win that makes the difference."
- Paul Bear Bryant

Reflection: One needs the will to prepare in order to actually have the win. It is because if someone does not have the will to prepare to win then one would not even think about winning. There would be no enthusiasm to practice harder and harder each day. It is not healthy for an athlete or competitive musician to never having the will to prepare. If someone prepares, they will succeed.

Paul "Bear" Bryant

Paul "Bear" Bryant was an American College Football coach who was also named the coach with the most wins in collegiate football with 323 wins. Student Success Statement #35

"Righteous community unity starts with ONE upright soul, whether it is a community of family members, students, neighbors, teammates, or business associates. Unity conquers worthy pursuits more quickly and with less effort than individual effort alone."
- Mr. Haymore

Reflection: When one person begins to do something that positively affects others and himself more than likely others would join. Such as when there is a dance. Many people do not like to be the first ones on the dance floor, but when others go and they see that they are having fun, they would more than likely step on too the dance floor as well to have a little fun. Sometimes if you want a positive change, you might just have to be the person to start the revolution.

Reflection: In a basketball game, there may be one person on the team that is good, but they will not win if they do not have a team that would help him. Without a team there would be no assistance to be able to do everything 100%. You would be left in ruins if you think you can beat 5 people at basketball when you don't have a team.

"Work as a team to achieve your dream"
- Sarah Real

Reflection: My life has usually been about doing things myself to get them right. There has only been few things that have made me realized you cannot do everything by yourself. My love for DCI is too huge. I learned that you cannot have a good show in this competition if you do not have all the necessary instruments. If the Drum Corps doesn't have a mellophones, then they don't have a counter-melody against the trumpets. If there are no euphoniums then there is no melodic bassline to help out the tubas. You need a team in order to be able to create success.

"You will become as great as your dominant aspiration (goal)"
- James Allen

Reflection: I belive this is true only if it truly is what you aspire. The brain is a very powerful thing if it is committed. If you have you mind set on something and you really do want it. You will get what you want because you will do the things necessary to achieve that goal. I really choose to be successful so I always try my best in school to have a better future. But not only that, I extend my network to get to know some important people that can benefit me. Goals are only goals unless you act upon them, not if you just talk about it.

"I wasn't trying to leave a legacy. I was trying to do what was right."
- Dean Smith

Reflection: He seems like an amazing person. That should be everyone's primary goal in life aside from survival. One should live with the goodness in one's heart by doing what is right rather than for the fame or money. You will eventually get noticed if you do what is right constantly because it's hard to find people who choose to do right all the time. I make the error of doing wrong sometimes but not because I'm a bad person. It's because I'm a human and I'm still learning on how the world revolves.

"Educating the mind without educating the heart is no education at all."
- Aristotle

Reflection: If one does no teach the heart then one would never be able to succeed. One needs the heart to give yourself a drive to wake up every morning to know that one will look to succeed in what the heart loves. It'll wake you up to tell you that today may be a big day. It also teaches moral values. Without the knowledge of these values then one would not be able to succeed because one would not be able to create connections and network with people causing life to be nearly impossible.

- Mr. Haymore

Reflection: I believe CTR can connect you to happiness because you will feel morally sane that you asre doing the right thing. But I do not believe it can guarantee my success. "It's better to be alone than to be in bad company"

Reflection: One really wants to be a good person because it will bring them happiness. When someone surrounds themselves with bad people they would only strive for one thing which would be to become accepted. It doesn't matter what group it is, you will always want to be accepted. And if you surround yourself with bad people, then one would only learn to do bad things. If a boy is raised by wolves, he would learn to be a wolf.

"You cannot do wrong and feel right. It is impossible."
- Ezra T. Benson

Reflection: He is saying that if some does something unethical then it would be impossible for one to feel as if they did something right. It all depends on what perpective you look at it from. If you do something wrong for the ultimate goal of selfishness and greed then it would be impossible to feel right. But say if a man fights back to a person that has oppressing them then it is right. It doesn't matter if they are rebeling. They are rebelling for control of their rights as human beings.
