Student Success Statement #15

"Every time I've done something that doesn't feel right, it's ended up not being right."
- Mario Cuomo

Reflection: This happens to me most of the time. In terms of doing something correctly, I sometimes believe I did something right, but then it may end up wrong. But in ethical terms, when I do something right, such as when I went with my friends in the Humanitarians Club to Venice Beach to clean up the beach. We all felt great about ourselves because we felt as if we were being the people we want others to be like who care about the community and the world. Whenever someone does something wrong, you see them pay the consequences such as ending up incarcerated or it could also end up fatal.

Cytotechnology

Cytotechnologists can save people's lives. They observe and diagnose many cells to see for any type of error in them. It is very important for them to be able to think independently because they must sometimes make decisions on their own. They must also have an amazing eye for precision for anything wrong in the cells because if not the person from which the cells are from could be very sick and die. Many of lives could be lost if it were not for these amazing people. I would like to become a cytotechnologist because they are very helpful in my community but I would not attempt to try to become one because I feel as if my eyes could not be very precise and I would not like to have the responsibility of a grown human being's life in my hands because I would get nervous.

"Only I can change my life. No one can do it for me."
- Carol Burnett

Reflection: She wants to say that she is not influenced by anyone. She does things that way she want s because she has control of her body and her mind. No one can take that away from her. When I do something good, I do it because my mind tells me that I want to do it. No one should ever do something hat they do not want to do just because someone else told them to. If it does it just dhows how weak minded they are and that they shouldn't even have control in the first place.

Refkection: I believe what he is trying to say that if one chooses to do good, they would never feel that it fails them. -French Proverb

Reflection: Sometimes you feel when you do something bad that it haunts you for a while. But when you do something good such as help out a teacher then you feel good that you did something good. Also say if you and your friends are hanging out and they want to do something bad and inappropriate, if you do it you will most likely feel bad and as if you have something to hide. "I shall pass through this life but once. Any good therefore that I can do, or any kindness I can show. let me do it now. Let me not defer nor neglect it; for I shall never pass this way again."
-ANON

Reflection: One should do all the right in their life that can because one would not fell like a good person when they are laying on their death bed. If one does not show kindness then they will not receive any kindness back especially when one needs it. If one denies to do what's right then one will not be able enjoy life with the feeling of good in one's life. If one decides to do wrong then one would not be able to return to do it right just because they regret it.

"You have only always to what is right. It will become easier by practice, and you enjoy it in the midst of your trials the pleasure of an approving conscience."
-Robert E. Lee

Reflection: This statement is absolutely correct. As one progressively keeps doing things right, it would become easier to do. I started becoming nicer after a leadership I went to because that's what leaders do in order to keep the support of the people one is supposed to lead. I am also in the Humanitarians here at HPIAM and I enjoy every second of it. It is an amazing when you help someone. You fell like you make a difference in someone's life and have an impact on them. Student Success Statement #7

"If it is not right do not do it; if it is not true do not say it."
-Marcus Aurelius

Reflection: This makes me think a bit. Many people say that you can either be rich or right. The first statement I can agree that we should all do the right thing because it would bring happiness to our soul and make us better people. It just makes the world a better place to live in if we all do the right thing rather than the bad thing. If you only speak what is true then you will always avoid being the fool. Many people say things that are lies and when it comes down to them proving it, they are seen failing to support what they said and it makes them feel bad.

Four Football Players

Reflection: Four football players walk into a closed store believing it was open. They got what they needed and proceeded to the checkout to pay for their to see that no one is there. They start taking money out of their pockets to show they are going to pay for the items but no one is there to collect the money. So they just left the money on the counter including the tax and they left. I believe this was amazing. I would think that in today's world many people would have just left with their items without paying. These men were showing that they are honest people. It also sends a message to people who believe that people of dark skin are all criminals. It made me very happy to see such courage and honesty from these football players.

"I have three messages:
1. We should never, ever give up.
2. You are never too old to chase your dreams.
3. It looks like a solitary sport, but it takes a team."

-Diana Nyad, American Swimmer

Reflection: It was pretty inspiring to see a person of that age overcome such a feat. She easily incorporated her messages in her swim from Cuba to Florida. When she made it to Florida, she demonstrated her will to never gave up. And she demonstrated that in her age she was still able to overcome that 53 hour swim, so it gives no reason for others to think they are too old to do a certain activity in which they have always wanted to do.
