Special Quote

"Obedience is central to becoming being and remaining happy."
- David A. Bednar

Reflection: I can say this is true. When I was in my first year of marching band, I had responsibility or leadership to worry about. I was able to stay focused on working on my music and marching. I made me feel happy because I was really good and doing what I do. And many times when you are obedient, you get rewarded with things such as the time I won Band Member of the Week at our second football game performance.

"Obedience is the great test of life."
- Thomas S. Monson

Reflection: I would agree to a certain extent. I believe that life is a test to see how obedient you are. But I say that it is also to see how much you can take. You need to show what you're worth when it comes to putting up with many obstacles that come forth in life. Such as having to do a repetitive work for your employer to get a promotion or increase your business size.

"Visualization-Imagination: What you see is what you get"
-Anonymous

Reflection: I can easily agree with this statement. I used to constantly dream of being in a drum corps with many other talented musicians, now I'm living the dream. I made it into Impulse Drum and Bugle Corps and I'm proud to know that I didn't give up. And I'm not stopping there. I will practice until I make it into a world class corps like Blue Devils or The Cadets. If I didn't imagine myself doing this then I never would have joined.

"That which we persist in doing becomes easier to do. Not that the nature of the thing has changed but that our power to do has increased."
- Ralph Waldo Emerson

Reflection: One of my favorite trumpet players is named Arturo Sandoval. He has won many Grammy's for his amazing talent. He has been playing since he was 13 and made the Cuban All-Nation Band when he was only 16 years old. He said that he would practice night and day because he loved practice and the instrument itself. He still gets compliments on YouTube today on his videos and he replies by thanking everyone and giving him the motivation to continue to practice even though he is known as one of the best if not the best trumpet player currently.
