Special Quote

"Obedience is central to becoming being and remaining happy."
- David A. Bednar

Reflection: I can say this is true. When I was in my first year of marching band, I had responsibility or leadership to worry about. I was able to stay focused on working on my music and marching. I made me feel happy because I was really good and doing what I do. And many times when you are obedient, you get rewarded with things such as the time I won Band Member of the Week at our second football game performance.

Class Reflection

1.What did you like best about this class?
- I liked that it was about computers. I really enjoy using computer and although I wasn't able to watch many interesting videos on YouTube, I was able to research important things for my future.

2. What did you dislike about this class?
- I disliked that it was too easy. I have been using a computer since I was a little kid and I have known all the skills we were to learn in this class for a while.

3. What can you recommend to improve this class?
- I would let the children explore the internet that way they practice their typing and ability to think on their own.

4. What will you always remember in this class?
- I will always remember the teacher Mr.Haymore. He is extremely nice and does everything to keep us on the right track of life.

"Obedience is the great test of life."
- Thomas S. Monson

Reflection: I would agree to a certain extent. I believe that life is a test to see how obedient you are. But I say that it is also to see how much you can take. You need to show what you're worth when it comes to putting up with many obstacles that come forth in life. Such as having to do a repetitive work for your employer to get a promotion or increase your business size.

"Obedience...is the primary object of all sound education."
- Elizabeth Missing Sewell

Reflection: It teaches people...simple as that. I have learned many things from obeying people and observing the consequences from those that don't. I am better off obeying the law and my parents rather than doing what I want and getting into trouble constantly like many children are picking up nowadays.

"Obedience sums up our entire duty"
- Hosea Ballou

Reflection: We should all learn to be obedient. It keeps us alive everyday. If we didn't obey the law, we wouldn't be safe in our neighborhoods. If we were in war and we didn't about the sergeant, then we would be dead in a heartbeat. Obedience keeps people safe and alive and makes others what to follow through with our requests as well.

Harmful Effects and Consequences of Drug Abuse

  • Hallucinations
  • Abuse
  • Fear
  • Frying of the brain
  • Destroying the lives of others around you and yourself
  • Drugs torment peoples' lives
  • Drugs can overpower someone into taking their own lives
  • It can create stupidity
I promise to never consume drugs because I already know that it is harmful to me and the people around me that love me most. I also care to much about my body to consume drugs because I know the harmful affect it has on my body.

"Early to bed and early to rise makes a man health, wealthy, and wise."
- Benjamin Franklin

Reflection: I can agree with the statement because there is something very magical about the morning environment that give you energy for the rest of the day. You just feel invigorated by the early morning darkness and breeze. You feel one with the world and you wish to dominate everything that stands in your way to success.

"Act well your part; there all honor lies."
- Alexander Pope

Reflection: One should act the way one needs to act with others. They should act kind and caring to others even if they are mistreated and honor is created that way because one has the courage to act like that with someone even though one is being treated poorly. It gives strength and courage when one acts appropriately all the time.

"I would prefer even to fail with honor than win by cheating."
- Sophocles

Reflection: One shouldn't have to resort to cheating in order to win something. Many people do anything they can to win and that includes cheating. But they know one day their time winning is going to come to an end when people take note of them cheating. When I play basketball, I never take any extra supplements to increase my performance level. The only way I choose to win is through hard work and determination.

"Attitude is the mind's paintbrush. It can color any situation."
- Anonymous

Reflection: It really is. Many times the whole outcome of the situation can be simply based on attitude. Many times have I been in a situation in which my attitude has helped me succeed and live a better life. It allows to have a open mind and thinking positively helps with positive results.

"He who walks with the wise grows wise, but a companion of fools suffers harm."
- A Proverb

Reflection: This can be true in many cases. I have been with some bad people however and I have never been a part of any wrong doing. Many people are, however, influenced greatly by the people by which they associate themselves with. I caring person can turn into someone who hurts others simply by hanging out with a group of people that hurts people. They begin to gain the idea that hurting people in okay because he/she sees their friends hurting people and they are fine so they begin to think it is okay to hurt others.

Integrity

Many people believe promises shall only be kept so long as the person is there with them. Abraham Lincoln made a promise to his mother that he would never smoke and drink whiskey because is mother was ill from doing so. When he went on a trip with a colonel, the colonel asked him if he would drink with him and smoke with him. Lincoln said no because he knew that he had made a promise to his mother and wasn't planning on breaking that promise anytime soon.

"Manners maketh man."
- William of Wykeham

Reflection: Many people think that men are tough and what not. There are a lot of criminals and gangs that believe that acting tough and violent show how much of a man one can be. They do not understand that a real man is one that respects another person even if he disrespects him. A man treats everyone with respects as well as himself.

"A CTR champion is a person who makes a great human out of himself."
- Noemi Trigueros

Reflection: In the positive light, we know that doing great things creates a great human in one's own eyes. Many times in the eyes of others, a great human is known to have succeeded in life with money and power. I do believe however that a great human shows their dominance by having enough will power to choose the right.

"Right is right, even if everyone is against it; and wrong is wrong, even if everyone is for it."
- William Penn

Reflection: I am pretty skeptical about this statement because there is no way to say that what you are doing is right if everyone is saying its wrong. There is no moral handbook for the world. If that were to exist people could easily discredit it because there is no force that can stop them from doing so. I understand that William Penn wants the world to do the right things even if it is seen in the wrong light, but I wouldn't be able to distinguish the two because there is everyone against you. They have the right in their hands.

"Right is right only when entire."
- Victor Hugo

Reflection: You can not say what you do is right if there is an expected compensation for it. Such as if someone helps out someone with money to be nice only to be repaid with interest. Or like if someone plays basketball for a small team and to be paid for his work. One thing I do consider right is how Kobe Bryant took a pay cut to continue to play for the Lakers franchise.

SSS #59

"Your worth consists of what you are and not in what you have."
- Thomas Edison

Reflection: I completely have to agree with the words of Mr. Edison. People nowadays have a net worth set by Forbes magazine. But I cannot agree with the worth that a magazine sets for someone. Material items cannot determine the kind of person I am, but it is the way I act and treat others that determine my worth. Being an actor that makes substantial amounts of money would never be, in my eyes, worth more than a person that devotes themselves to the well being of others.

"Nothing in the world can take the place of persistance. Talent will not; nothing is more common then unsuccessful men with talent.
Genius will not; unrewarded genius is almost a proverb. Education will not; the world is full of educated derelicts. Persistance and Determination alone are omnipotent. The slogan 'Press On' has solved and always will solve the problems of the human race."
- Calvin Coolidge

Reflection: Examples are posted up everywhere. Many of my older friends are extremely talents musicians and singer but they have not hit fame. Many people are intelligent such as the Dennis Ritchie, who created C, the programming language but he was never a big name to the common person. There are also many smart students in HPIAM but they never put their best foot forward in an attempt to succeed in life.

SSS #53

1. Can people trust me to do what's right?
- Yes people trust me to do what is right because I show to people that I am a person that is very trustworthy and loyal.

2. Am I committed to doing my very best?
- Yes when I try to do anything I like I always give it my all. When I set an impression I tend to go beyond what I am required to do.

3. Do I treat people the way I want to be treated?
- Many times I do. Sometimes I feel bad when I do something bad to something and end up avoiding doing so in the future because I does not make me feel any better than the person I did it to.
