"Early to bed and early to rise makes a man health, wealthy, and wise."
- Benjamin Franklin

Reflection: I can agree with the statement because there is something very magical about the morning environment that give you energy for the rest of the day. You just feel invigorated by the early morning darkness and breeze. You feel one with the world and you wish to dominate everything that stands in your way to success.

"Courage is being scared to death and doing the right thing anyway."
- Chae Richardson

Reflection: There may be times in life where you are told not to tell on someone if they are lying. They may threaten you or whatever but you need to do what is right and tell the truth. Why? Because you benefit more from telling the truth than lying about it and keeping things from people.

"Right is right, even if everyone is against it; and wrong is wrong, even if everyone is for it."
- William Penn

Reflection: I am pretty skeptical about this statement because there is no way to say that what you are doing is right if everyone is saying its wrong. There is no moral handbook for the world. If that were to exist people could easily discredit it because there is no force that can stop them from doing so. I understand that William Penn wants the world to do the right things even if it is seen in the wrong light, but I wouldn't be able to distinguish the two because there is everyone against you. They have the right in their hands.

"The difference between the impossible and the possible lies in DETERMINATION."
- Tommy Lasorda

Reflection: Many people give up because something may be too hard or they may even say it is impossible. People don't actually look into trying their hardest and with their all to make it possible. Men can even become women if they truly wanted to. I really try hard to play higher and higher notes on my trumpet even though it causes my head and lips to ache. Being determined brings success.

3. Do I treat people the way I want to be treated?

"Never look to the ground for your next step. Greatness belongs to those who look to the horizon."
- Bud Greenspan

Reflection: To be positive looking towards the ground give you something you can acheive instantly because its something that is under you. When you look to the horizon you find an expanse of many things you can acheive. But there will always be the sun (a goal) which you will never reach.

"Doing what is right, fair, and honorable is more important than winning or losing."
- Chick Moorman

Reflection: Many times when I play a game online, I have to race people that love to cheat. When I am passing them up they like to hit the bottom right or left of my car to execute a PIT maneuver and I get frustrated because I don't cheat. I always drive behind them to catch the draft and quickly pass them up. I really don't like cheating when I play any type of game. When I win, I like to have an honorable win; something you have to earn and play fair for.

"Kind words can be short and easy to speak, but their echoes are truly endless."
- Mother Teresa

Reflection: I have a hard time telling people good things. Not because I don't feel that way, but because I didn't grow up telling people nice things. I was always a clown. Now that I do wish to be nice, it is hard for me to say them but when I do I always feel better. It makes me feel better because I know that I'm not trying to make someone feel worse about themselves.

Student Success Statement #42

"The best inspiration is not to outdo others, but to outdo ourselves."
- Anonymous Author

Reflection: I sometimes look to the goal of trying to beat others because when one thinks of setting goals its good to do better and better than what you have done the previous time. But when I comes to making yourself stand out, you have to find what other have not done yet and surpass them. There is certain situations in which one is better than the other but there will never be a time where one will always be better than the other.

Student Success Statement #41

"Set your goals high, and don't stop till you get there."
- Bo Jackson

Reflection: It is amazing when someone accomplishes something with such a great challenge. Such as Michael Phelps when he practices for the olympics. He does not like to go into the water until about a year after the olympics, but when he begins to practice again he practices everyday to get better for about 3 years. He does not quit on his training. Now he has 8 gold medals and the reason: dedication...

Restoring Faith in Humanity

Many times I think that humanity has no hope. Many people think about themselves rather than others. I tend to do the same but its the way one has to live in this cruel society. I am a part of the Humanitarians Club in my school. I am not there for my college requirements because I already have 200+ hours of community service completed. I am there to help others and the environment because I love seeing a smile on the faces of others. It pains me to see others that do not feel happy as I do because I know that we should all like in joy but in today's world no one seems to care. Especially those that have had everything given to them in their lives.
